Choosing Kearing tools for your project

Pattern shape or fabric cutting? Pattern masters, curves, triangles and L-squares help draw and adjust patterns. Quilting rulers serve a different measuring and cutting job. Compare the scale, units, dimensions and intended use; metric and inch formats are both represented.

Match the marking method: Water-erasable, air-erasable, chalk and UV markers have different application and removal directions. The UV marker has washable and permanent options; iron-on transfer markers are a separate product. Test the selected tool on spare fabric and check its instructions before pressing, washing or expecting a mark to disappear.

Pressing tools are their own range: Choose the stated hot ironing ruler or template for the required shape and measurement. An ordinary acrylic cutting ruler is not a substitute for a tool specified for use with an iron. Compare gauge size and units when measuring hems, spacing or seam allowances.

Check what the listing supplies: A pattern notcher, hole punch, ruler set or single ruler has a different purpose and pack contents. Fabric adhesive, fray treatment and iron cleaner also need their own material and application instructions; they are not interchangeable with marking supplies.
