JUKI plainsewer compatibility guide
This guide covers the DB×1 versions of the eight JUKI models below supplied by Direct Sewing in New Zealand. Choose DB×1 / 16×231 needles in a suitable size and point, and match replacement bobbins, cases and attachments to the existing part.

Choosing feet, needles, bobbins and the right oil
Presser feet for industrial straight stitching
A standard plainsewer foot suits everyday seams. Choose a left or right zipper foot to work beside a zip, a compensating or guide foot for consistent topstitching, or a piping, gathering or hemmer foot for a specific operation. Non-stick and roller options can help suitable materials feed smoothly. Check the screw-on fitting, needle opening, feed-dog clearance and working width. Domestic snap-on feet, walking-foot sets and needle-feed feet are not interchangeable with a standard drop-feed plainsewer foot.
DB×1 needles: choose your size and point
The JUKI models covered here are the DB×1 versions supplied by Direct Sewing. Shop DB×1 / 16×231 needles, then choose a size within your machine’s specified range. Match the point to the fabric and the size to the thread, and test a seam before starting your project.
Bobbins and bobbin cases
Compare the bobbin’s diameter, width and centre hole, along with its part reference. For a replacement bobbin case, check the hook, latch and any anti-backlash arrangement. References such as 22932909, 11038759 and 52237 / BCDB1 help identify the listed products, but do not establish that every version uses the same part. Send us a photo of the old part and model plate if you are unsure.
Oil and routine care
Choose JUKI Genuine Oil 7 where your machine’s manual specifies it. JUKI lists Oil 7 for the DDL-8700-7, DDL-7000A, DDL-8000A, DDL-8000C and DDL-900C series covered by the linked specifications. The standard DDL-8700 specification names New Defrix Oil No.1. For DDL-9000C machines, check the lubrication type and required oiling points rather than treating a dry-head version like an oil-pan machine.
A lint brush and suitable oiler make useful workroom essentials. Isolate the machine before cleaning or fitting parts, follow its maintenance instructions and use only the specified lubricant.
