Switch patterns using the selector lever, then adjust the zigzag width to suit the operation. Keep both stitch options at the same workstation as your sewing requirements change.
Choose the stitch for the job
From everyday zigzag to elastic work.
Standard zigzag
The needle moves from side to side to form the familiar zigzag line. Use it where the job calls for a conventional zigzag attachment or finish.
Three-step zigzag
Several shorter stitches form each sideways movement, spreading the attachment across the zigzag. This is particularly useful for elastic and delicate garment work where stitch distribution matters.
Simple pattern selection.
The under-arm selector provides a convenient way to change stitch pattern. The width adjustment controls the needle’s sideways travel for the finish you need.
Make adjustments with the machine stopped, following the machine’s operating instructions. Test on an offcut with the same fabric, elastic and thread before sewing the finished piece.
Garment and specialist sewing
A focused machine for detailed work.
The 2284B suits underwear, lingerie, gloves and elastic reinforcement. Its presser-foot design supports thin and elastic materials, while the rotary thread take-up mechanism supports stitch formation.
Choose needle size, thread and tension for the actual layers being sewn. This garment-weight zigzag is not a substitute for a heavy-duty walking-foot machine.
