Choosing a hemming foot or attachment
Start with the finish: A rolled-hem foot folds a narrow fabric edge as it stitches. A blind-hem foot guides a prepared fold for the machine’s matching stitch. A coverstitch hemming set serves a different machine and method. These are distinct options, rather than substitutes for every hem.
Read what the measurement means: A listed finished hem width is different from a machine’s 5mm, 7mm or 9mm fitting family. For example, the Brother narrow-hemmer labels describe the compatible machine format. Check the selected size, exact part number and compatible-model list rather than choosing by one number.
Domestic and industrial mounting: Domestic snap-on, Juki TL and Brother coverstitch accessories have specific fittings. Industrial hemmer feet and the A11 swing-away folder need the correct machine, mounting position and clearance. The A11 turns the material edge into a hem; it does not apply a separate strip of binding.
