Gathering or formed ruffles? A gathering foot creates fullness as the fabric feeds, with results affected by the material and stitch settings. A ruffler attachment forms repeated tucks or gathers using its own adjustments. Industrial elastic-shirring and tape-edge-shirring feet perform specific jobs; choose the application stated on the listing.
Match the domestic system: Ordinary domestic feet, Brother PQ straight-stitch feet and Brother overlocker feet have different fittings. Janome’s original AcuFeed ruffler for MC6600P and MC7700QCP is a specific system. Match the full model, exact part and required mounting rather than assuming all feet from one brand interchange.
Check industrial fitting and options: Industrial gathering and shirring feet need the correct plainsewer attachment and clearance. Some listings offer different gathering steps or elastic widths. Compare the selected variant and supplied components; a similar-looking foot can produce a different effect.
