Choosing a cardigan or jacket pattern
Compare the intended shape. A cropped cardigan, cape-style layer and longline jacket have different finished proportions. Check the pattern’s measurements and ease; for baby designs, use measurements alongside the age guide.
Plan the construction and finish. Read whether the design uses flat knitting, sections worked in the round or a combination. Check any seams, bands, hood, buttonholes or zip instructions before choosing tools and fastenings.
Order for the selected option. Yarn amounts can differ between sizes and garment options in the same leaflet. Confirm the specified yarn, tension and required closures; a pattern listing does not automatically include yarn, needles or buttons.
