ByAnnie project & supply guide
Patterns are printed instructions, not finished bags or complete kits. Check the exact pattern edition, project size and supply list before choosing fabrics, foam, zips and hardware.
Choose a bag pattern for the way you use it
Compare Get Out of Town Duffle 2.1 and Round Trip Duffle for travel, or Back At Ya 2.1 and Out & About for backpacks. Side Hustle, Payday and Foldilocks offer sling-bag or wallet projects; Two Little Totes is for compact everyday totes. For sewing-room organisation, explore Catch All Caddy 2.0, Clam Up, Flipping Out and Drop Zone.
Which Soft and Stable pack do I need?
Soft and Stable is a sew-in foam stabiliser that adds body while keeping bags soft. It is not fusible interfacing. Choose a continuous piece in 18 × 58in, 36 × 58in or 72 × 58in, or a Project Pack containing four separate 13½ × 18½in pieces. Check the cutting layout: separate small pieces cannot replace a larger unbroken panel. Choose black or white to suit your project.
Plan pockets, zips & coordinating colours
Lightweight mesh comes as an 18 × 54in piece; clear vinyl is 16 × 54in. Use the material your pattern specifies for visible pockets or windows. The 20mm fold-over elastic can finish mesh edges and comes in a 2-yard pack (about 1.83m). Our ByAnnie handbag zip is 30in / 76.2cm with two slides. Check required lengths and quantities, then choose colours across the separate listings.
Match hardware width, finish & quantity
The strap fittings marked 1 inch have a 25.4mm strap opening; this is not their outside measurement. Match them to your finished straps and the pattern's specified hardware. Rings, swivel hooks, sliders and strap adjusters do different jobs. Check each pack: the metal side-release buckle is sold singly, while the plastic buckle pack contains two. The 14mm sew-in magnets contain two complete sets—four magnet pieces.
Useful tools for assembly
The Stiletto & Pressing Tool helps position fabric and press small seams. The Extra-Sharp Awl makes controlled holes for suitable hardware; snaps are sold separately. Double-sided basting tape holds tricky layers while you sew and is supplied as two 10m rolls, 3mm wide—20m total. Basting tape assists positioning; it does not replace permanent stitching.
Build your project shopping list
Start with the pattern and size, then check main and lining fabrics, foam, any separate interfacing, zips, pocket materials, elastic, straps and hardware. Allow for quilting and cutting as directed by the pattern. Product photos may show completed projects for inspiration; the listing states what is supplied. Keep your fabric, thread and needle choices within your sewing machine's capacity.
