What would you like to make?
A good starting point for small patchwork quilts, quilted cushions, wall hangings and bags where the pattern calls for cotton batting. Plan several smaller pieces from the pack if your cutting layout allows. This is a flat batting layer—not loose filling for stuffing toys.
Choose by measurements, not just the size name
Your batting needs to extend beyond every edge of the quilt top for basting, quilting and trimming. Add your required allowance to both the width and length before choosing a pack. If using a longarm quilting service, follow your quilter’s requested margin.
For example: a 100 × 120cm quilt top with a 5cm allowance on each side needs at least 110 × 130cm of batting. Your own quilting method may need a larger margin.
Preparing and caring for your batting
The CosyCotton pack recommends pre-washing. Follow its printed method and handle wet batting gently without stretching. Once dry, smooth it out, layer with your quilt top and backing, and baste before stitching.
Helpful answers
Is it ready to use straight from the pack?
The CosyCotton packaging recommends pre-washing. Use the method printed on the pack, support the batting when wet and let it dry before layering your quilt.
Is it fusible?
No. Scrim supports the cotton; it is not adhesive. Baste the top, batting and backing, then quilt them together.
