Your yarn choices
MODE at Rowan Alpaca Haze 25g. Pier photographed in Cocoa 016; Metton in Silk 013. Choose your own shade.
Pier uses five 25g balls. Metton uses one 25g ball with yarn held double; its one-ball quantity already allows for this, so do not double the order. Each project uses one shade.
Order the full amount of each shade together; contact us for help checking dye lots.
Project sizing & yarn quantities
Each design has one project size. Metton is designed for an average adult woman’s head; its 50cm figure is the finished hat circumference, not a head measurement.

Each addition supplies one selected project. To make both designs, add each separately and include the leaflet only once. Extra length or alterations may require more yarn.
Needles & finishing tools
Pier: 3.25mm circular needles at least 160cm long. Join the two supplied 100cm-labelled cables with the included KnitPro connector, then attach the regular 13cm tips. No additional specialised tool is listed for Pier.
Metton flat: one pair each of 3.25mm and 4mm straight needles. No additional specialised tool is listed for the flat Metton hat.
Metton in the round: 3.25mm and 4mm circular needles, both 40cm long, plus 4mm double-pointed needles. Short tips and one shared 40cm cable are included; transfer tips when changing needle size. Metton in the round requires a stitch marker.
Pier: the two 100cm-labelled cables joined together with the connector and regular tips exceed the 160cm minimum. Cable labels describe a single cable with tips, not its bare length. Choose own cables only if you already have a compatible setup at least 160cm long; that choice removes both cables and the connector.
No cables are required for the flat Metton hat.
Metton in the round: one 40cm-labelled cable for the two short 10cm tip sizes is included. Transfer tips when changing size. Choose own cables only if you have this compatible short-tip setup.
A tapestry needle, measuring tape and scissors are useful finishing tools; these are not automatically added.
Tension & care
Pier: 22 stitches × 37 rows to 10cm over pattern using 3.25mm needles, once blocked.
Metton: 19 stitches × 32 rows/rounds to 10cm over stocking stitch using 4mm needles with yarn held double.
Make a tension square and adjust your needle size if needed. Follow the yarn label for care instructions.

Can I use my own tools or pattern?
Yes. Select only what you need. Check needle sizes and any required circular lengths before choosing own tools or cables.
Can I make the whole set?
Add one project at a time, then return and choose the other design. Include the leaflet once and untick it for later additions. Buy the full yarn quantity for each project.
