Is IDT the same as an industrial compound-feed walking foot?

Is the passport 3.0 easy to carry?

Can the passport 3.0 sew buttonholes?
Yes. It includes one-step buttonhole programs and the 5B one-step buttonhole foot for repeatable programmed buttonholes.
Can it sew quilts?
Yes. Original IDT, needle down, speed control, quilting stitches and drop feed make it excellent for piecing, bindings and manageable quilting. Its compact 145mm needle-to-tower space is not intended to provide the same room as a large-throat quilting machine for very bulky quilts.
Can I do free-motion quilting?
Yes. Lower the feed dogs using the external control and fit the appropriate optional PFAFF free-motion foot. The operator then moves the fabric and balances hand movement with sewing speed.
Is the extension table included?
No. The matching extension/quilt table is an optional accessory. It provides additional flat support around the machine but does not change the 145mm needle-to-tower space.
Can it sew denim or canvas?
It can sew suitable domestic denim and canvas projects with a fresh project-appropriate needle, suitable thread and controlled speed. Test the thickest intersection and never force the machine through a hard or bulky stack. It is not an industrial heavy-material machine.
Does it have automatic thread tension?
No. Thread tension is adjusted manually using the tension dial. This gives direct control for changes in fabric, batting, needle and thread.
Does it have a free arm?
Yes. Remove the accessory compartment to expose the free arm for cuffs, trouser hems and other tubular pieces. The external feed-dog drop is located at the rear of the free arm.
What is the difference between the passport 2.0 and 3.0?
The passport 3.0 builds on the compact Original IDT platform with automatic thread snips and expands the stitch library to 100. Those are the clearest reasons to choose it over the passport 2.0.
Is the passport 3.0 an embroidery machine?
No. It is a computerised sewing machine with decorative stitches and free-motion capability. It does not use embroidery hoops or import digital embroidery designs.
