Odif 505 · Temporary fabric adhesive

Hold the layers. Concentrate on the stitching.

Arrange fabric with a temporary adhesive hold while you sew, quilt or embroider. Odif 505 is a spray-basting option for keeping layers aligned without a permanent glued finish.

One 500ml aerosol can. A larger can for regular quilt basting and embroidery preparation.

Where it works best

Baste a quilt sandwich

Apply to the batting as directed, then position the quilt top and backing to keep the layers aligned for quilting.

Hold fabric on backing

Secure suitable fabric to embroidery stabiliser when your technique calls for floating rather than clamping the fabric in the hoop.

Position small pieces

Arrange appliqué and other fabric pieces before stitching them in place. The sewing, not the adhesive, creates the lasting attachment.

How to use it

  1. Protect the work area, ventilate well and shake the can. Patch-test the fabric before applying adhesive to the project.
  2. Spray a light, even layer from about 25cm away onto batting for quilting or stabiliser for embroidery. Spray away from the machine.
  3. Position and smooth the fabric, adjusting alignment as needed. Sew the layers together and follow the can directions for subsequent care and removal.

Extremely flammable aerosol; contents under pressure. Keep away from heat, sparks and flames, and out of children’s reach. Do not spray onto machinery. Read the can’s safety and use instructions before starting.

Good to know

Does adhesive replace embroidery stabiliser?

No. It holds layers together; the backing still needs to support the fabric and design during stitching. Choose the correct tear-away, cut-away or wash-away material first.

Can I use it on delicate fabric?

Always test an inconspicuous offcut for marking and removal. Take particular care with delicate finishes and fabrics that cannot be washed.
