The MyLock 654D is designed for sewists who want fast edge finishing, strong stretch seams and polished garment interiors without moving to an industrial overlocker.
Configure it for two, three or four-thread stitching to construct stretch garments, neaten woven seams, create lightweight edge finishes, sew rolled hems, produce flatlock effects and add decorative overlocking.
The machine arrives fully threaded with four cones of white overlocker thread, allowing you to test the factory threading and begin sewing shortly after unpacking.

The MyLock 654D doubles the number of feed-dog sections used on earlier models in this class.
The additional teeth maintain contact before, beneath and behind the needle area, supporting smoother movement through fine woven fabrics, jersey, fleece and layered garment sections.
The layout also improves bi-level sewing when the foot climbs from a normal seam onto a thicker crossed seam.

An enhanced long presser-foot design
The front of the foot has a gentle curve that helps it approach thicker fabric levels smoothly rather than stopping abruptly at the seam.
Grooves beneath the foot help reduce fabric slippage, while an added stopper limits excessive tilting when the foot crosses a bulky intersection.
The extended needle-drop guide improves visibility and helps position the fabric edge accurately before it reaches the needle and knife.

Lay-in tension guides and colour-coded threading paths
The MyLock 654D is not an air-threading machine, but Janome has made its conventional threading system as clear and accessible as possible.
Raise the presser foot to release the tension discs, then slide each thread into its numbered tension channel. The improved lay-in guides help prevent the thread from sitting outside the tension system.
The full threading chart is printed inside the opening looper cover, with separate colours identifying each needle and looper route.

The lower-looper threading system moves the difficult guide into a more accessible position, reducing the need to reach deep behind the upper looper.

Differential feed from 0.5 to 2.25
The differential-feed control changes how quickly the front and rear feed dogs move in relation to one another.
Increase the setting when stretch fabric becomes wavy or when controlled gathering is required. Reduce it when a fine woven fabric puckers or when a deliberately stretched effect is wanted.
The selected differential-feed and stitch-length settings are clearly visible through the side indicator windows.

Fast rolled-hem conversion
Move the chaining-finger control without changing the plate
Switch between ordinary overlocking and rolled hemming using the accessible chaining-finger control beside the needle plate.
Moving the finger out of the stitch formation allows the thread to roll the fabric edge into a narrow, dense finish.
No separate rolled-hem needle plate is required.

Lower-looper pre-tension slider
The external slider changes the lower-looper thread path for standard overlocking or rolled-hemming techniques.
Move it to the standard position for ordinary seams, then select the rolled-hem position when directed by the stitch chart.
This reduces the amount of manual tension adjustment needed when changing between common finishes.
Trim only when the project requires it
Easily retractable upper knife
Turn the accessible release control to lower the upper knife when fabric trimming is not required.
Retracting the knife is useful for selected flatlocking, decorative techniques and situations where the edge has already been trimmed accurately.
The cutting width can also be adjusted to match fabric thickness, needle position and stitch formation.
Always keep the fabric edge clear of the stationary knife and needle area when sewing with the upper knife disengaged.
Metal base construction and vibration-reducing rubber feet
High-speed overlocking can create vibration, particularly when the knife is trimming dense or layered fabric.
The MyLock 654D uses a stamped metal base cover to increase rigidity and stability beneath the machine.

The MyLock 654D is a conventional manually threaded overlocker. It does not have an air-threading system or automatic thread tension.
It does not create a coverstitch. A separate coverstitch machine is required for professional knit hems with parallel stitching on the top and looped coverage underneath.
The MyLock 654D does not have a free arm. It uses a broad flat overlocking bed designed to support consistent edge feeding.
It is a premium domestic overlocker intended for garment sewing, alterations and creative projects rather than continuous industrial production.

Does the MyLock 654D have air threading?
No. It uses conventional colour-coded threading with lay-in tension guides and an easy-access lower-looper threading system.
