Eagle Special 146RB: zigzag capability for heavier work.
For sail, canvas and outdoor-product work that needs more than a straight seam, the Eagle Special EA146RB zigzag walking foot sewing machine combines adjustable zigzag stitching with walking-foot material handling.
Three-step zigzag capability, reverse stitching and a variable-speed servo motor give you useful control over both the stitch pattern and the pace of sewing.

See the difference
Standard zigzag and three-point zigzag.
Standard zigzag
One stitch crosses each diagonal between the left and right needle positions.
Three-point zigzag
Three needle points—start, centre and end—form two stitches along each diagonal.
Illustrations show stitch structure; dots represent needle penetrations. They are not photographs or a scale guide. Actual width, spacing and appearance depend on the stitch setup, material and thread. Changing the step pattern requires the appropriate mechanical setup.
Choose the stitch to suit the seam.
Zigzag and three-step capability
Zigzag carries the stitch across the seam rather than following a single straight line. A three-step pattern uses several smaller stitches as it travels across each side of the zigzag, giving a different stitch structure for suitable sail and outdoor-fabric work.
The supplied zigzag step-adjustment kit supports the machine’s stitch-pattern setup. This is a mechanical machine, not a touchscreen machine with one-touch stitch programmes.
Walking-foot material handling
The walking foot helps advance suitable heavier and layered materials through the sewing area. This is useful for canvas, coated fabrics and assemblies that are harder to guide evenly under a conventional presser foot.
Test your actual material, thread and seam construction before production, particularly at reinforced sections and folded joins.
Built for canvas, sails and outdoor products.
A practical option for workshops working with sails, outdoor canvas, suitable PVC products and leather goods. The flat-bed layout supports panels around the needle, while the 27cm × 10cm working space provides room to manage the material.
Choose the stitch type, width and length for the job rather than assuming one setting suits every seam. Material density, needle size, thread and the number of layers all affect the result.
Set a comfortable sewing speed
The energy-saving servo motor has an adjustable maximum speed, with pedal control for sewing at the pace the work needs. Reduce speed around corners, through thicker joins and when testing a new stitch setup.
The motor remains quiet while idle, making pauses for repositioning less intrusive.
Useful everyday controls
Adjustable stitch length and zigzag width
Reverse stitching for securing seams
Large bobbin for longer sewing runs
Walking-foot feeding for suitable heavy materials
Industrial table with wheels for easier positioning
Clearance is not sewing capacity: the 10mm presser-foot lift helps position the work; it does not guarantee that every 10mm-thick assembly can be sewn. Use an appropriate speed and test the complete seam stack.

What makes this different from a standard walking foot machine?
Many walking foot machines sew straight stitch only. The Eagle 146RB adds zigzag and three-step zigzag capability for work that needs a stitch travelling across the seam.
What is three-step zigzag?
Instead of making one long diagonal stitch from side to side, the needle forms several smaller stitches across each diagonal. The stitch pattern must be set up correctly for the machine and the intended work.
Is it suitable for sail and canvas work?
Yes, suitable sail, canvas and outdoor-product work are key applications. Match the thread, needle, stitch pattern and settings to the seam, and test any reinforced or multi-layer sections.
Is it a computerised embroidery machine?
No. This is an industrial mechanical zigzag walking foot machine with servo-motor speed control, not a programmable embroidery or pattern-sewing system.
Can it be shipped outside Auckland?
Yes. Order online with Direct Sewing; nationwide New Zealand freight is available for the built-up workstation.
