The cowl's in-the-round instructions specify yarn held double. The quantities above are the leaflet's ball allowances; they should not be doubled again. The complete-set builder matches your mitts to cowl colour A. If your mitts match cowl colour A, the complete set requires 4 balls of colour A and 1 ball of colour B.
Needles and tools
- Cowl in the round: 10mm circular needle, 80cm long.
- Cowl worked flat: one pair of 10mm knitting needles; the piece is seamed into a loop.
- Mitts: one set of 4mm double-pointed needles and a marker for the start of the round.
If choosing interchangeable tips for the cowl, include a compatible cable that gives an 80cm total needle length with those tips. A yarn sewing needle is useful for weaving in ends and seaming the flat cowl.
