What would you like to make?
Choose the cot pack for projects that fit its smaller footprint, or the queen pack for a larger quilt top or several smaller pieces. Bamboo batting can also form the middle layer in wall hangings and quilted accessories where the pattern calls for it. Plan the layout before cutting so offcuts can be used thoughtfully.
Choose by measurements, not just the size name
Your batting needs to extend beyond every edge of the quilt top for basting, quilting and trimming. Add your required allowance to both the width and length before choosing a pack. If using a longarm quilting service, follow your quilter’s requested margin.
For example: a 100 × 120cm quilt top with a 5cm allowance on each side needs at least 110 × 130cm of batting. Your own quilting method may need a larger margin.
Preparing and caring for your batting
Unpack and let folds relax before cutting. Use the preparation, maximum quilting-distance and care instructions supplied with your specific pack. Baste the layers smoothly without stretching, and test your intended washing method on a small quilted sample.
Helpful answers
Is scrim an adhesive layer?
No. It is a fine supporting layer that helps hold the filling together. This bamboo batting is non-fusible and needs basting and quilting.
How far apart can I quilt it?
Use the maximum spacing printed on your specific pack. Do not transfer a spacing limit from a different batting range; closer quilting is an option when you want more stitched detail.
