The bond holds the twisted polyester plies together, helping resist fraying and ply separation during demanding sewing.
Excellent bleach, mildew and rot resistance makes the thread well suited to products used around water and outdoors.

From the constant flex of a boat cover to the exposed edges of an awning, this heavy bonded thread is chosen for projects that need more than an ordinary sewing thread.

This product is commonly traded as V138. Coats' own technical sheet identifies the exact construction as Ticket 18 and Tex 150. Because sizing systems are not identical, use the verified Ticket and Tex values when checking machine and needle compatibility.
Many ordinary domestic machines are not designed for Tex 150 bonded thread or a large commercial cone. Check the machine manual and needle system before ordering. A suitable heavy-duty industrial setup is normally the safer choice.
No thread alone makes a seam waterproof. Dabond Outdoor is engineered for excellent resistance to UV, marine water, mildew and rot, but it does not have the separate Dabond AWF anti-wick finish.
