Choosing the right needle threader
Hand needle threader or machine threader?
Hand-sewing threaders draw thread through a loose needle’s eye. Machine aids are shaped to work around an installed needle. Choose the stated application and check the eye is large enough for both the threading tool and thread; never force a fine wire through.
Automatic does not mean every machine
A push-button automatic hand needle threader is a separate tool for compatible hand needles, not a replacement for a sewing machine’s built-in threading mechanism. Prym’s automatic model has specified needle-diameter ranges, so check its product details before choosing.
What about overlocker loopers?
Overlocker tools provide reach for loopers and needle eyes. Some are model-specific: the Janome air-threading wire listed here is for the AT2000D. Follow the machine manual and switch the machine off before working near needles or moving parts.
