Choosing a magnetic hoop or starter kit · quick guide
What is a magnetic embroidery hoop?
A magnetic embroidery hoop holds fabric and backing together using magnets. It offers an alternative to a conventional screw-tightened hoop for suitable garments and embroidery projects. Choose stabiliser for the fabric and design, position the layers carefully and follow the hoop manufacturer’s instructions.
Choose the fitting before the size
Ricoma: EM1010 fittings and commercial 400mm-arm fittings are separate choices. Our Sewtech Maggie frames in this range are listed with the Ricoma 400mm arm fitting; do not assume they fit an EM1010. Confirm the model, bracket spacing and supported sewing field.
Brother PR: choose a frame with the correct PR brackets and arm configuration. Tajima: check the listed mounting arrangement; the 5.5-inch Mighty Hoop frame here specifies a 360mm arm fitting. Singer: the magnetic metal hoop in this collection is listed for the EM9305, not every Singer embroidery machine.
Small logos, narrow placements or larger designs?
Compare square and rectangular frames against the actual design dimensions and garment access. A narrow frame can suit a long, shallow placement, while a larger frame needs enough machine clearance and supported stitching area. Nominal hoop dimensions are not a guarantee that a design of the same size will fit. Check the usable field and trace the design before stitching.
Hoop only, starter kit or accessory?
Hoop only: add a machine-compatible frame to your existing setup. Starter kit: compare the listed hoop, station, base and fixture contents; packages differ. Mighty Hoop and Hoop Talent kits are separate systems, so check the supplied components and machine fitting rather than assuming the pieces interchange.
Fixtures and guides: the 5.5-inch Mighty Hoop station fixture and pocket guide serve different positioning tasks. The large adjustable fixture is listed for most Mighty Hoops 6.5 inches and larger on a HoopMaster station. The station fixture listing does not include a hoop. Check each accessory’s required base, station and frame before buying.
Do I need a hooping station?
A HoopMaster station is not required to use a compatible Mighty Hoop, but a matching station and fixture can help with repeat garment placement. Consult the HoopMaster fitting and setup guidance and the instructions for the exact hoop. Handle strong magnets carefully and follow the manufacturer’s safety precautions.
