Battistella Barbara 31 Semi-Automatica | Pump + tank + EOS iron

Refill the boiler without stopping to cool down

The Barbara 31 Semi-Automatica adds a 48W pump and separate 10L water tank to the proven 4.5L stainless boiler and weighted EOS iron. Pump-assisted refilling lets you add water while the boiler remains pressurised, supporting a smoother, continuous pressing workflow.

  • 10L external water tank and 48W pump reduce interruptions for cooling and manual refilling.
  • Refill while the boiler remains pressurised using the operator-controlled pump system.
  • 3.4L usable stainless boiler capacity maintains a substantial working steam reserve.
  • 2.8-bar working steam pressure delivers controlled steam through the EOS iron.
  • Wheeled floor-standing format keeps the complete system organised beside the workstation.

Why semi-automatic matters

A more continuous workflow, with water level under your control

01

No cool-down wait to add water

Use the pump to transfer water from the separate tank into the boiler while the system remains under pressure.

02

Operator-controlled filling

Switch the pump on when water is needed, watch the boiler level, then switch it off at the desired level.

03

10L supply close at hand

The external tank provides a much larger water reserve than a manually filled Barbara alone.

Built for a productive pressing rhythm

Keep working instead of waiting for a hot boiler to cool

The semi-automatic system avoids opening the safety cap for routine refilling. Add distilled water to the separate tank, use the pump switch to bring the boiler back to the desired level, and continue once the steam system is ready. The full station measures approximately 25 × 47 × 89cm and rolls into position beside the ironing table.

Where it earns its place

For pressing work where refill downtime matters

Alteration shops

Move through repeated repairs and finishing with a larger water supply close at hand.

Dressmaking studios

Open seams, set hems and shape garment sections throughout longer construction days.

Embroidery finishing

Press finished garments and stabilised projects with adjustable steam output.

Busy sewing rooms

Reduce refill interruptions when multiple projects or garments are moving through the workspace.

Semi-automatic filling made clear

A simple six-stage start-up

1

Position

Place the wheeled unit upright on a level, stable surface beside the ironing table.

2

Fill the tank

Add distilled water to the external 10L tank and keep the pump intake supplied.

3

Load the boiler

Connect to power, switch the pump on and watch the boiler-level window.

4

Stop at level

Switch the pump off once the desired level is reached; never exceed the MAX mark.

5

Heat

Switch on the boiler and iron and wait for the gauge to reach approximately 2.8 bar.

6

Prime

Point the iron safely away from people and fabric and release four or five short steam bursts.

Three water figures, three different jobs

4.5L vessel, 3.4L usable boiler and 10L supply tank

Capacity Published figure What it means Important qualifier
Boiler vessel 4.5 litres The physical stainless boiler volume. This is not the amount to pump into the boiler.
Useful boiler capacity 3.4 litres The working water volume inside the pressurised boiler. Stop the pump before the level exceeds MAX.
External water tank 10 litres The separate supply used by the refill pump. It does not turn the boiler itself into a 13.4L boiler.
Working pressure 2.8 bar Pressurised steam delivery through the EOS iron. Wait for the gauge and ready indicator before pressing.
Total installed power 2298W 1450W boiler, 800W iron and 48W pump. Connect directly to a suitable, correctly earthed 230V outlet.
Included in the system

Stainless Barbara boiler

4.5L vessel with 3.4L usable pressurised water capacity.

EOS

EOS steam iron

800W weighted iron with cork handle and steam microswitch.

10

10L water tank

Separate supply reservoir for pump-assisted boiler refilling.

48

48W refill pump

Transfers water to the boiler under operator control.

Wheeled floor stand

Organises the boiler, tank and pump beside the ironing table.

Hose support + iron rest

Keeps the steam hose organised and provides a safe resting place for the hot iron.

Water care + safe operation

Use distilled water and flush the boiler weekly

Protect the boiler and pump

Distilled water helps minimise scale and residue from minerals and treatment chemicals found in tap water.

  • Use distilled water in the external supply tank.
  • Keep enough water in the tank whenever the pump is used; never run the pump dry.
  • Drain and flush the boiler once a week.
  • Drain only when the system is cold, unplugged and the gauge reads 0 bar.
  • Wait at least one hour after switch-off before draining.
  • Never add fragrance, starch, special ironing water or chemical treatments.

Safe everyday operation

Connect the Barbara Semi-Automatica directly to a correctly earthed 230V outlet suitable for its 2298W load.

  • Avoid multi-boxes and unsuitable extension leads.
  • Monitor the boiler-level window whenever the pump is running.
  • Switch the pump off once the desired boiler level is reached.
  • Never move the system while it is hot, operating or pressurised.
  • Never open the safety cap while the generator is operating or pressurised.
  • Always return the hot iron to its supplied rubber rest.

Frequently asked questions

Battistella Barbara 31 Semi-Automatica FAQs

What does “semi-automatic” mean?

The boiler can be refilled from the separate 10L tank using an electric pump. You control the process with the pump switch: turn it on to add water, watch the boiler-level window, then switch it off at the desired level.

Can the boiler be refilled while it is hot?

Yes—use the external tank and pump system. The manufacturer states that this method can add water while the machine remains pressurised, avoiding the usual cool-down wait. Never open the safety cap while the boiler is hot or pressurised.

Does the pump stop automatically?

No. This is why the model is described as semi-automatic. The operator monitors the level and switches the pump off once the desired boiler level is reached.

Is the total water capacity 13.4L?

No. The pressurised boiler has a 4.5L vessel and 3.4L useful capacity. The separate 10L tank supplies water to that boiler through the pump; it does not increase the boiler vessel itself to 13.4L.

How long can it provide steam?

The pump-assisted system is designed for a continuous pressing workflow rather than one fixed runtime. Keep distilled water available in the 10L tank and refill the boiler as needed using the pump and level window.

Why must the supply tank contain water?

The pump relies on water from the external tank. Running it dry can damage the pump, so check the tank level before activating the refill switch.

Why is distilled water important?

Distilled water reduces the minerals and treatment chemicals entering the boiler and pump, helping limit scale and residue. Do not add perfume, starch, special ironing water or chemical treatments.

How often should I drain the boiler?

Drain and flush it once a week. The machine must be cold and unplugged, the pressure gauge must read 0 bar, and at least one hour should have passed since switch-off.

What electrical connection does it need?

The Barbara 31 Semi-Automatica is rated at 230V / 50Hz and 2298W. Connect it directly to a suitable, correctly earthed outlet and avoid multi-boxes and unsuitable extension leads.
