Clover · Sashiko & hand sewing thimble

Support long needles through running stitches.

The Clover 611 combines an adjustable finger ring with a broad, dimpled plate. Position the plate near your palm to push the eye end of a long needle through fabric. It is a useful tool for sashiko and other hand sewing techniques where several running stitches are gathered onto the needle.

Sashiko

Use the plate to support the needle while working repeated lines of hand stitching.

Long running stitches

The palm-side pushing position suits techniques that gather several stitches before the needle is drawn through.

Choose your hand position

The ring lets you position the plate to suit your grip, rather than covering the fingertip with a cap.

Before you start

  1. Adjust the ring comfortably so the plate rests near your palm.
  2. Gather the running stitches onto a suitable long needle, keeping its point under control.
  3. Support the eye end against a dimple in the plate and push gently before drawing the needle through.

The plate provides support, not permission to force a needle. Reduce the number of fabric layers or use a more suitable needle if the work is difficult to penetrate.

Good to know

How does this differ from Clover 610?

The 611 adds a projecting plate. The 610 is a plain ring with no plate.

Are needles included?

No. This listing supplies the thimble; choose hand needles and thread separately for your project.
