We have some exciting news to share with our customers, community, and fellow sewing enthusiasts across New Zealand.
Direct Sewing Machines & Supplies is officially moving to a brand new showroom, retail store and service centre at a new location in Henderson. This is a major step forward for our family business and something we have been working towards for a long time.
Our new space will be three times larger than our current showroom, allowing us to expand what we offer and create a true destination for anyone passionate about sewing, quilting, embroidery, knitting and craft.

A Bigger Space for the Sewing Community
The new Direct Sewing showroom has been designed to better serve our growing community of home sewers, professional makers, fashion students, textile artists, and industrial customers.
With a significantly larger space, we will be able to showcase a much wider range of:
• Domestic sewing machines
• Industrial sewing machines
• Embroidery machines
• Overlockers and coverstitch machines
• Quilting supplies and rulers
• Fabrics and sewing accessories
• Threads, needles and notions
• Knitting supplies and yarns
Our goal is simple. To create a true one-stop sewing and craft destination in New Zealand where beginners, hobbyists, fashion students and professionals can find everything they need in one place.
The new showroom will also allow us to properly display machines, run demonstrations, and offer a much better hands-on experience when choosing the right equipment.
Expanded Service & Support
Alongside the larger showroom, our service centre and technical workshop will also be expanding.
This means improved support for:
• Sewing machine servicing
• Industrial machine setup
• Technical repairs
• Machine demonstrations and training
• Support for schools, designers and businesses
Direct Sewing has always been committed to supporting the sewing community, and this new space allows us to take that support to the next level.
Important Dates During the Move
To prepare for the move and set up the new showroom, our retail store will temporarily close for a few days.
Current showroom open until:
Thursday 12th March 2026
Retail showroom closed:
Friday 13th March
Saturday 14th March
Monday 16th March
New showroom opening:
Tuesday 17th March 2026
During this time our online store will remain active and orders will continue to be shipped as normal.

Moving into a showroom three times the size of our current space is a huge milestone for us and a reflection of the growth of the sewing and maker community across the country.
