Choose the overlocker system, then the fabric point.

Schmetz B27 / DCx27 needles are made for industrial overlockers that specify this system. Choose Sharp for the standard point or Ballpoint for the SES light ball point, then select the size for your fabric and thread. The point choice matters particularly when moving between woven fabrics and knits.

Ten needles in one selected size and point. Sharp and Ballpoint options are listed above.

Woven seams

Start with the Sharp option for appropriate woven fabrics and inspect the sample for clean stitching without damaged yarns.

Fine to medium knits

The SES light ball point helps pass between fabric threads and loops, making it useful when testing knit seams.

Changing fabric types

Review both point and size when the fabric changes; a setting that suits one garment may need adjusting for another.

Before you start

  1. Check that the overlocker specifies B27 / DCx27, then select the point and size for your materials.
  2. Turn off the machine and replace the needle following the manual's insertion and threading directions.
  3. Overlock a matching fabric sample and inspect stitch balance, edge finish and any holes before continuing.

These are industrial-system needles, not a universal replacement for household overlocker needles. Match the complete system rather than the overlocker brand.

Good to know

What does SES mean here?

It identifies the light ballpoint option. It is different from the Sharp option and from a medium ballpoint.

Is B27 another name for DCx27?

Yes. Schmetz lists B27, DCx27, MY 1023 and UY 191 GS together; retain the point suffix when matching.
