Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 Fusible Quilt Batting – Cot 45 × 60"

$26.90

HOBBS HEIRLOOM · DOUBLE-SIDED FUSIBLE

Small quilts. Thoughtful layers. Fewer basting pins.

Give a small patchwork quilt or wall hanging a cotton-rich centre without buying a full queen pack. Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 Fusible bonds to both the quilt top and backing when pressed, helping keep the layers together as you prepare for quilting. The cot/crib precut is also useful for quilted cushions and smaller projects where the pattern calls for batting.

Will this pack fit?

Measure your quilt top and add your quilting allowance on every side. The 45 × 60-inch measurement is the batting size, not the recommended finished quilt size. Check your pattern or longarm quilter’s requirements before cutting.

Press first, then quilt

Do not pre-wash the batting. Hobbs specifies a dry iron without steam. Test on scraps of your actual quilt fabrics before pressing the whole project.

Work from the centre outwards, holding the iron in each position for about 5–7 seconds rather than sliding it. Let the section cool, then check the bond. Follow the pack instructions for your project and protect heat-sensitive fabrics.

Keep quilting lines no more than 4 inches apart. The water-soluble adhesive releases with washing, leaving the stitched quilt softer.

Helpful answers

Can I use it for hand quilting?

It is suitable for machine quilting; hand quilters should test a sample to decide whether the needle resistance feels right for their technique.

Is it suitable beneath white fabric?

Hobbs recommends this batting for medium or dark fabrics. Check it behind pale or white fabric first to see whether the natural colour shows through.

Is fusible batting the same as interfacing?

No. This is the middle layer of a quilt, not a substitute for the specific interfacing or bag stabiliser required by a pattern.
