HOBBS HEIRLOOM · DOUBLE-SIDED FUSIBLE
A smoother start to your next quilt.
Bring your patchwork top, batting and backing together with an iron-fusible middle layer. Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 Fusible combines cotton with polyester support, helping hold your quilt sandwich in place while you get ready to stitch. This generous queen precut gives you room to plan larger quilts or cut several smaller projects.

Press the top and backing to the batting to simplify basting.

Will this pack fit?
Check the actual quilt-top measurements rather than relying on the word “queen”. Leave extra batting around every edge for basting, quilting and trimming. A longarm quilting service may require a wider margin.
Need a smaller pack? Compare our cot / crib 45 × 60-inch fusible batting.
Press first, then quilt
Do not pre-wash the batting. Hobbs specifies a dry iron without steam. Test on scraps of your actual quilt fabrics before pressing the whole project.
Work from the centre outwards, holding the iron in each position for about 5–7 seconds rather than sliding it. Let the section cool, then check the bond. Follow the pack instructions for your project and protect heat-sensitive fabrics.
Keep quilting lines no more than 4 inches apart. The water-soluble adhesive releases with washing, leaving the stitched quilt softer.
Helpful answers
Can I use it for hand quilting?
It is suitable for machine quilting; hand quilters should test a sample to decide whether the needle resistance feels right for their technique.
Is it suitable beneath white fabric?
Hobbs recommends this batting for medium or dark fabrics. Check it behind pale or white fabric first to see whether the natural colour shows through.
Is fusible batting the same as interfacing?
No. This is the middle layer of a quilt, not a substitute for the specific interfacing or bag stabiliser required by a pattern.
