$1,999.00

Eagle Special SK-4 · also known as EA-801

Less bulk. Better leatherwork.

Prepare leather edges for cleaner folds, flatter seams and neater assembly. The Eagle Special SK-4 bell-knife skiving machine removes material from the underside of leather where you need a thinner edge.

With adjustable skiving width and a speed-adjustable servo motor, it creates a dedicated preparation station for bags, wallets, footwear and other leather goods.

Prepare before you stitch

A refined finish starts at the edge.

Cleaner turned edges

Thin the fold area so leather can turn over more neatly, reducing the bulky ridge that a full-thickness edge can create.

Flatter layered seams

Reduce thickness at selected overlaps before assembly, helping multiple layers sit together without unnecessary bulk.

Repeatable preparation

Set the cut for your leather and guide successive pieces through the same setup. Test a sample whenever the material or finish changes.

What skiving does

Thin the leather where it matters.

Skiving removes a controlled layer from the underside of the leather. A bell-knife skiver is especially useful around edges that will be folded, overlapped or stitched.

This is a leather preparation machine, not a sewing machine. It also serves a different purpose from a wide leather splitter: use it for controlled local thinning rather than assuming it will split a whole hide to a uniform thickness.

A practical leatherwork station

Control the cut and the pace.

The quiet servo motor offers speed adjustment, while the skiving-width and depth settings let you prepare the machine for the job. Work from a trial piece to establish the amount of leather to remove.

Leather firmness, finish and thickness affect feeding and the final cut. A sharp, correctly adjusted knife and a suitable setup are essential for a clean result.

Useful across leather goods

  • Wallet pockets and folded edges
  • Handbag panels and seam allowances
  • Shoe and boot upper components
  • Strap ends and selected overlap areas

Choose a sample from the actual leather before committing finished pieces.
