Sew, personalise and embroider from one connected creative machine. The Singer SE9185 combines more than 250 sewing stitches, 150 embroidery designs, 10 embroidery fonts, a 7-inch colour touchscreen and mySewnet Wi-Fi connectivity with a generous 170 × 100mm embroidery area.
The SE9185 gives you the flexibility of a computerised sewing machine and a dedicated embroidery system without requiring two separate machines.
Use ordinary sewing mode for garments, repairs, decorative stitching, buttonholes, patchwork, appliqué and quilting.
Attach the embroidery unit and hoop to create florals, children’s motifs, cross-stitch designs, monograms, names, phrases and decorative embroidery.
Designs can be selected from the built-in collection, transferred through mySewnet or imported using a compatible USB device.
The regional package includes the main accessories required to begin sewing, decorative stitching, buttonholes, quilting and machine embroidery.
Select stitches, browse embroidery designs, edit layouts and view settings on the large full-colour display.
Transfer compatible designs wirelessly and monitor embroidery progress through connected mySewnet services.
Begin embroidering immediately with florals, seasonal designs, children’s motifs, cross-stitch and decorative patterns.
Add names, initials, dates, phrases and monograms in multiple built-in lettering styles.
Choose utility, stretch, quilting, satin, appliqué and decorative stitches for everyday sewing.
Trim the upper and bobbin threads at the touch of a button when sewing or embroidering.
Reduce eye strain and machine preparation time with lever-assisted needle threading.
A rigid internal structure supports the sewing and embroidery mechanism during operation.
The bright touchscreen replaces small monochrome displays and complicated button combinations with a clear visual interface.
In sewing mode, view the selected stitch, recommended foot, width, length and available adjustments.
In embroidery mode, preview the design in colour, move it within the hoop, rotate it, resize it and combine it with additional designs or lettering.
Connect the SE9185 to a compatible Wi-Fi network and link it with your mySewnet account.
Compatible designs can be transferred wirelessly from supported devices and services without repeatedly moving a USB drive between the machine and computer.
The mySewnet app can also provide embroidery progress notifications while you are nearby and working on another task.
A mySewnet account is required for connected services. Access to selected cloud-library designs, software tiers and advanced services may require a paid subscription after any included trial period.
The included hoop provides a maximum embroidery field of approximately 170 × 100mm, or 6.7 × 4 inches.
This accommodates names, monograms, quilt labels, children’s motifs, florals, appliqué designs and many decorative layouts without excessive rehooping.
Smaller designs can be combined within the hoop and positioned on the touchscreen before embroidery begins.
Begin creating without first purchasing or downloading a separate embroidery collection.
The built-in collection includes a variety of decorative styles so new owners can begin embroidering immediately.
Designs can be selected directly from the touchscreen and combined with built-in fonts or other compatible motifs.
Create professionally stitched names, initials, dates, phrases and monograms directly on the touchscreen.
The built-in fonts include uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and commonly used symbols.
Lettering can be repositioned, combined with embroidery designs and arranged within the available hoop area before stitching begins.
Personalise towels, garments, bags and children’s items.
Create initials for gifts, linen and home décor.
Add makers’ names, dates and messages to completed quilts.
Create small personalised items and product labels within the hoop limits.
The screen displays design dimensions, colour stages and placement information before and during embroidery.
When a colour section is completed, the machine stops so the thread can be changed for the next stage.
The automatic thread cutter trims the upper and bobbin thread, helping reduce manual finishing between colour blocks.
Remove the embroidery unit and use the SE9185 as a versatile computerised machine for everyday sewing, garments, quilting and creative projects.
Singer also describes 401 stitch applications, meaning the practical techniques that can be completed using the available stitches and settings.
Operate sewing or embroidery without continually using the foot controller.
Set the maximum speed for detailed work, beginners and long seams.
Choose the needle stopping position for pivoting and appliqué.
Secure compatible construction seams using reverse stitching.
Secure compatible stitches neatly without repeatedly reversing.
Trim the upper and bobbin thread at the touch of a button.
Lower the threading lever after following the marked upper-thread path.
The mechanism guides the thread through the needle eye, reducing close-up work and helping you begin sewing or embroidering sooner.
This is especially useful when changing embroidery colours frequently or working with fine needles.
Insert the bobbin from above and follow the marked threading path beneath the transparent cover.
The clear bobbin and cover make it easier to monitor the remaining thread before beginning a large embroidery colour block or long sewing seam.
Place the button into the supplied buttonhole foot and the machine uses it as a guide for the required buttonhole length.
The full buttonhole is completed in one continuous sewing sequence, supporting more consistent sizing across a garment or home décor project.
The SE9185 includes an edge and quilting guide, needle up/down control, speed adjustment and drop feed.
Lowering the feed dogs allows manual fabric movement for free-motion quilting and thread painting with the included embroidery and darning foot.
Machine embroidery can also be added to quilt blocks, labels and borders before the final quilt is assembled.
Use variable needle positions and the quilting guide for accurate piecing.
Choose satin and decorative stitches or use embroidery appliqué designs.
Lower the feed dogs and guide the project manually.
Combine embroidery fonts, dates and built-in motifs.
The sewing area provides approximately 165mm of horizontal room and 108mm of height between the needle and machine tower.
This gives useful space for garments, bags, quilt blocks and everyday home sewing.
Remove the storage compartment to reveal the free arm for sleeves, cuffs, trouser hems and narrow tubular projects.
Complete long seams efficiently, then reduce maximum speed for detailed work and controlled embroidery placement.
The Singer SE9185 is a combination domestic sewing and single-needle embroidery machine. It is not a multi-needle commercial embroidery machine.
Its maximum embroidery area is 170 × 100mm with the included hoop. Designs larger than this field must be split, repositioned or adapted using suitable software and techniques.
Wi-Fi connectivity requires a compatible network and mySewnet account. Some mySewnet library content, software functions and connected services may require a paid subscription.
The machine changes embroidery colours manually. It stops at each colour stage so the user can rethread the needle.
Good embroidery results require suitable stabiliser, embroidery thread, bobbin thread, needle choice and secure hooping.
The built-in sewing stitches are different from embroidery designs. Sewing stitches are formed while fabric feeds beneath a presser foot, while embroidery designs are stitched automatically within the attached hoop.
