Floral thread cutter
Guide thread between the petals and across the recessed stainless-steel edge for a controlled cut.
Madeira 9473 combines a floral thread cutter, built-in needle threader and detachable lanyard in one compact sewing accessory. Protective petals surround the recessed stainless-steel blade, helping keep fingers away from the cutting edge while sewing thread, embroidery thread or wool is guided through the slot.
The blade is guarded, but it is still sharp. The petals help keep fingers away from the recessed edge during normal use; guide only suitable thread into the cutting slot and keep the tool away from children.
The flower-shaped housing is more than decorative. Its petals form a guard around the cutting edge, while the threader and removable cord reduce the number of small tools you need to find during a project.
Guide thread between the petals and across the recessed stainless-steel edge for a controlled cut.
Use the integrated threader to pull an embroidery, sewing or suitable wool thread through a needle eye.
Wear the cutter during a project or remove the cord when storing it in a sewing box or travel kit.
Madeira specifies article 9473 for sewing thread, embroidery thread and wool. It is best suited to thread and yarn ends rather than fabric, cord, wire or other heavy materials.
Cut embroidery-thread tails and use the built-in threader when preparing the next needle.
Keep the cutter close for ordinary sewing-thread ends without handling open scissor points.
Cut suitable wool yarn and use the threader where its loop and the needle eye can comfortably accept the yarn.
| Tool | Design | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Madeira 9473 | Recessed thread blade, built-in needle threader and detachable lanyard | Sewing, embroidery and wool thread cutting in a compact kit |
| Madeira 9475N | Spring-action snips with fine straight points | Frequent close trimming of visible thread ends at a work station |
| Embroidery scissors | Compact exposed blades with straight or curved points | Precise thread trimming where blade position must remain visible |
| Fabric shears | Long blades and larger handles | Cutting fabric yardage, pattern pieces and longer edges |
Grip the cutter securely by its housing, keeping fingers outside the spaces between the petals.
Place one suitable thread or yarn end into a cutting slot between the protective petals.
Pull the thread gently and steadily against the recessed edge instead of twisting or forcing it.
Inspect the cut end before threading the needle or returning the cutter to its lanyard or storage place.
Remove loose lint carefully so the thread can reach the blade without obstruction.
Do not bend, twist or pull the fine threader through a needle eye that is too small for the selected yarn.
Keep the cutter away from moisture and from heavier tools that could damage the housing or threader.
Remove the cord for storage or situations where a hanging loop could catch on equipment or nearby objects.
