210mm workspace
Gain more room to the right of the needle for quilts, bags and larger garment sections.
Take on garments, quilts, bags and creative sewing with the space and control of a premium Brother machine. The Innov-is NV1800Q combines 290 built-in stitches, a generous 210mm workspace, Automatic Height Adjuster, pivoting, sideways sewing, a wide table and an extensive quilting accessory package.
The Brother NV1800Q sits in a particularly useful position for sewists who want advanced quilting features and a larger workspace while retaining a portable domestic machine.
Its 210mm opening gives quilts, garment panels and structured projects more room to move than a compact sewing machine.
Automatic Height Adjuster, pivoting and adjustable machine speed improve control across fine fabrics, layered quilts and bulky seam intersections.
At approximately 9.7kg and supplied with a hard cover, it remains manageable for classes, retreats and storage between projects.
The Brother NV1800Q does not embroider and does not use embroidery hoops.
Its lettering, decorative patterns and My Custom Stitch designs are sewn as the fabric feeds normally beneath the presser foot.
This allows the machine to concentrate on garment construction, quilting, patchwork and creative feed-through sewing.
The NV1800Q package is designed to support patchwork, straight-line quilting, free-motion work, garment construction and specialist sewing from the beginning.
Gain more room to the right of the needle for quilts, bags and larger garment sections.
Maintain suitable presser-foot pressure as the thickness beneath the foot changes.
Keep the needle lowered while the presser foot lifts automatically for accurate turning.
Use utility, quilting, decorative, heirloom and lettering options for varied projects.
Sew supported stitches in multiple directions where rotating the project is difficult.
Design and save original feed-through sewing-stitch patterns.
Trim both the upper and bobbin threads using a direct machine control.
Support quilt weight and large project panels across an expanded flat surface.
The approximately 8.3-inch workspace gives quilt blocks, bag panels, garments and home-décor projects more room to move beneath the machine arm.
A larger opening reduces the amount of folding and bunching required when working with quilt layers and bulky project sections.
The supplied extension table supports fabric around the machine so less weight pulls against the needle area.
Automatic Height Adjuster responds to the thickness of the material beneath the presser foot.
This helps maintain suitable pressure and consistent fabric movement when sewing over bulky seam intersections, layered quilts and changing fabric heights.
It is particularly useful when a project moves repeatedly between flat fabric and thicker joined sections.
When pivot mode is active, the needle remains lowered into the fabric while the presser foot automatically rises.
Rotate or reposition the project with both hands, then resume sewing and allow the foot to lower automatically.
Utility, decorative, quilting, heirloom, multi-directional and lettering options.
The built-in stitch selection covers everyday garment sewing, stretch materials, overcasting, quilting, appliqué and creative embellishment.
Five built-in sewing fonts provide feed-through lettering for labels, names and decorative wording.
Stitch width and length can be adjusted in fine increments and personalised settings can be saved in memory.
Select stitches using the numbered keypad and view the recommended settings on the LCD screen.
The display shows stitch width, length, presser-foot recommendations and active machine settings.
Decorative stitches and lettering can be combined and stored for future use.
My Custom Stitch allows individual stitch points to be positioned on a grid to create an original sewing-stitch pattern.
Completed stitches can be stored in the machine and reused on future projects.
This provides another level of personalisation beyond the existing built-in decorative collection.
My Custom Stitch produces ordinary feed-through sewing stitches. It does not convert artwork into machine embroidery.
Supported stitches can feed the fabric forwards, backwards and sideways.
This is useful when rotating a large or structured project would be difficult, and it also allows wider decorative effects to be formed.
Sew around selected patches without repeatedly rotating the garment.
Reach structured sections and awkward project areas more easily.
Add stitching where turning the complete quilt or panel is inconvenient.
Create decorative effects beyond ordinary forward-feed stitch width.
The standard package supports several popular quilting techniques without requiring an immediate accessory upgrade.
Use the 1/4-inch foot for consistent quilt seam allowances.
Use the walking foot to help move quilt layers together.
Lower the feed dogs and guide the project manually.
Support the quilt across the included wide extension table.
Raise the presser foot while both hands remain on the project.
Turn accurately with the needle remaining in the fabric.
Use the supplied knee lift to raise the presser foot without moving your hands away from the fabric.
This helps when aligning patchwork intersections, positioning appliqué or managing a large quilt.
The machine includes dedicated storage for the knee-lift bar when it is not being used.
Place the button into the automatic buttonhole foot and allow the machine to determine the appropriate buttonhole length.
The complete buttonhole is sewn in one continuous sequence for reliable repeated sizing across a garment or home project.
Brother’s advanced needle-threading system helps guide the upper thread through the needle eye.
Press the thread-cutter button after sewing and the machine trims both the upper and bobbin threads.
Automatic cutting is particularly useful during chain piecing, decorative stitching and projects containing many short seams.
The NV1800Q reaches speeds up to 850 stitches per minute for garment construction, patchwork and straight-line quilting.
Use the electronic speed-control slider to set a comfortable maximum for curves, appliqué, free-motion work and detailed sewing.
Efficient sewing with electronic speed control for detailed and large projects.
Insert the bobbin from above, follow the marked thread route and begin sewing without manually drawing the bobbin thread through the needle plate.
The transparent cover makes it easier to check the remaining thread supply.
Brother’s F.A.S.T. bobbin-winding system provides a straightforward method for preparing additional bobbins.
Many advanced quilting machines are large and difficult to transport. The NV1800Q remains below 10kg while offering a 210mm sewing area.
The supplied hard cover protects the machine during storage and transport.
This makes the NV1800Q a strong choice for sewing groups, workshops, quilting retreats and homes where the machine cannot remain permanently set up.
The Brother Innov-is NV1800Q is a domestic computerised sewing and quilting machine. It does not embroider.
Its five lettering fonts are feed-through sewing stitches rather than hoop-based embroidery fonts.
The 210mm measurement refers to the space between the needle and the machine tower. The wide table increases fabric support but does not increase the physical throat opening.
Automatic Height Adjuster helps the machine respond to changing fabric thickness, but the NV1800Q is not an industrial walking-foot or compound-feed machine.
Normal garment denim, quilting cotton, layered quilts and many bag fabrics can be sewn using the correct needle, thread and settings. Heavy leather, thick webbing and continuous upholstery production require an appropriate industrial machine.
The machine does not have Wi-Fi, embroidery transfer or Artspira compatibility.
Accessory packages can change by region or production batch. Confirm any particularly important accessory with Direct Sewing before purchase.
