Overlocking Made Easier
Professional-Looking Seams Without Complicated Looper Threading
Threading the loopers is often the most intimidating part of learning to use an overlocker. The JUKI MO-1000 changes that experience by using a powerful burst of motor-driven air to carry each looper thread through the machine.
Insert a short length of thread into the appropriate threading port, press the air-control button and the thread is transported through the looper path. The loopers can be threaded individually and do not need to be completed in a particular order.
Once threaded, the MO-1000 provides the speed, fabric control and stitch range required for knitwear, garments, activewear, delicate fabrics, rolled hems and decorative overlocking.
The JUKI MO-1000 is designed for sewists who want the finish and speed of a quality overlocker without the usual frustration associated with threading the upper and lower loopers.
Motor-Driven Air Threading
Insert. Press. Threaded.
Place approximately 1 to 2cm of thread into the threading port and press the air-control button.
The Feature That Changes Everything
Thread the Loopers with the Power of Air
JUKI’s easy-threader system carries the thread from the front threading ports directly through the upper and lower loopers using a strong burst of air.
This removes the need to guide thread through a long sequence of internal hooks and channels, making colour changes and complete rethreading considerably easier.
Powered by the machine’s electric motor.
Threads the upper and lower loopers.
Loopers can be threaded in either order.
Excellent for frequent colour and thread changes.
Particularly helpful for new overlocker users.
Easier Needle Threading
Built-In Needle Threader for Faster Setup
The loopers are threaded using air, while the needles are supported by JUKI’s built-in needle-threading mechanism.
Lower the threading lever, position the thread in the guide and return the lever to draw the thread through the needle eye.
Reduces eye strain during needle threading.
Makes complete machine setup more approachable.
Useful when changing between two-needle and one-needle stitches.
Works with suitable domestic overlocker needles.
Complements the powered looper-threading system.
Three-Step Needle Threading
Quick and Comfortable Setup
Lower the lever, position the thread and release the mechanism to complete needle threading.
Fast, Versatile Overlocking
Clean Seam Finishing Across a Wide Range of Fabrics
The MO-1000 combines high-speed operation with flexible stitch settings and adjustable fabric control for garment construction, edge finishing and decorative techniques.

Control Stretching and Gathering

Better Results on Knits and Delicate Fabrics
Adjustable Differential Feed
Stretch fabrics can become wavy as they are sewn, while lightweight woven fabrics can pucker. Differential feed lets you alter how the two sets of feed dogs transport the material.
Adjustments can be made while sewing, helping you create flat knit seams, prevent puckering or intentionally gather and stretch fabric for decorative effects.
Helps prevent waving on stretch fabrics.
Reduces puckering on lightweight woven materials.
Creates controlled gathers and ruffles.
Useful for lettuce-edge and frilled rolled hems.
Adjustable from 0.7 to 2.0.
Refined Cutting and Fabric Control
Sew Neater Curves and Adjust the Cutting Width
The distance between the needle and knife is approximately 9.95mm, helping the MO-1000 navigate inside curves more cleanly than designs with a longer needle-to-knife distance.
The cutting width can be adjusted to suit different materials and stitch formations, while the upper knife can be disengaged when trimming is not required.
Improved control around inside curves.
Adjustable cutting-width dial.
Retractable upper knife.
Thread-trimming blade built into the machine.
Suitable for practical and decorative edge finishing.
9.95mm Needle-to-Knife Distance
Cleaner Inside Curves
A shorter working distance gives you more control when finishing shaped garment sections and curved edges.

A quality overlocker deserves knowledgeable setup advice, genuine local support and technicians who understand both domestic and industrial overlocking technology.
Insert approximately 1 to 2cm of thread into the appropriate threading port and press the air-control button. A motor-driven burst of air carries the thread through the internal channel and out through the looper.
Does the air system thread the needles as well?
The powered air system threads the upper and lower loopers. The needles are threaded using the machine’s separate built-in needle-threading mechanism.
Do the loopers need to be threaded in a particular order?
No. The powered threading ports allow the upper and lower loopers to be threaded individually without following the conventional looper-threading order.
Can the MO-1000 sew with two, three and four threads?
Yes. It can create two-thread overcasting, three-thread overlocking, narrow overlocking, rolled hems, flatlocking and strong four-thread construction seams.
Is the JUKI MO-1000 suitable for beginners?
Yes. Its powered looper threading, needle threader, clearly arranged controls and safety system remove several of the most difficult parts of learning to use an overlocker. It also offers enough adjustment and stitch flexibility for experienced sewists.
Is it suitable for knit and stretch fabrics?
Yes. Four-thread overlocking creates flexible construction seams, while the adjustable differential feed helps prevent knit fabrics from becoming stretched or wavy during sewing.
Can the MO-1000 sew rolled hems?
Yes. The built-in rolled-hem lever allows the machine to be changed to rolled hemming without replacing the needle plate. It can also create decorative frilled rolled hems using differential feed.
Does the MO-1000 sew a coverstitch?
No. The MO-1000 is an overlocker and does not sew a coverstitch or chain stitch. A separate coverstitch model, such as the JUKI MCS-1500, is required for professional twin-needle and triple-needle cover hems.
Can the cutting knife be switched off?
Yes. The upper knife can be retracted when you want to sew without trimming the fabric edge.
What is differential feed?
Differential feed changes the relative movement of the front and rear feed dogs. It can help prevent stretching on knits, reduce puckering on lightweight fabrics or intentionally gather and stretch fabric for decorative effects.
What needles does the JUKI MO-1000 use?
JUKI specifies SCHMETZ 130/705H domestic-style needles or compatible JLx2 needles. Select the needle type and size according to the fabric and thread.
Is the JUKI MO-1000 quiet?
JUKI designed the MO-1000 to operate with reduced noise and vibration. It remains a high-speed cutting and stitching machine, but its operation is refined compared with many conventional overlockers.
Does it include a waste catcher?
Yes. A waste collector is included to catch trimmed fabric and help keep the sewing area tidy.
Can it handle thicker fabrics?
The maximum 8mm presser-foot lift, adjustable foot pressure and strong cutting system give it good capability across many domestic garment and layered projects. A heavy industrial overlocker may still be more appropriate for continuous production or very thick materials.
Does an overlocker replace a normal sewing machine?
No. An overlocker specialises in trimming, joining and finishing fabric edges. A conventional sewing machine is still required for standard lockstitch seams, buttonholes, zips, topstitching and many general construction steps.
