Quick guide to choosing an industrial machine
Plainsewers, including twin needle models, create straight lockstitch seams for garment sewing, alterations and production. Automatic models can add labour-saving features; check each model for its thread trimming, foot lift and feed system.
Overlockers trim and finish fabric edges. Walking-foot machines help feed layered materials such as upholstery, leather and canvas. Bag-closing machines stitch sacks and packaging bags closed; for making handbags or leather bags, start with the walking-foot range.
Coverseam machines make stretch hems and bindings. Choose a buttonhole machine for repeatable buttonholes, a bartack machine for reinforced stress points, or a blind hemmer for discreet hems.
Zigzag and specialist machines handle dedicated sewing operations.
Compare material thickness, thread, feed system and the required stitch before buying. Check each listing for the included head, table, stand and motor. The default product order groups plainsewers, overlockers, walking foot, bag closing and specialist machines, with lower-priced options first within each group.
