Productive single-needle sewing

Built for professional straight-stitch work

The DDL-900C is designed for alteration shops, dressmakers, fashion workrooms and production environments that need consistent straight lockstitch sewing throughout the working day.

01

Automatic sewing cycle

Automatic backtack, thread trimming and presser-foot lift reduce repeated manual operations at the beginning and end of each seam.

02

Integrated direct drive

The servo motor connects directly to the machine shaft for fast response, efficient power delivery, reduced mechanical noise and no idle motor noise.

03

Digital repeatability

Electronic feed control replaces the conventional stitch-length dial, helping operators reproduce the same stitch settings accurately from job to job.

This product page corresponds to the medium-weight DDL-900CS-M configuration, identified by its 5,000-stitch maximum speed and DB×1 needle system. Confirm the exact model code shown on your quotation or machine data plate before ordering model-specific parts.

Electric Feed Length Control System

Set stitch length from the touchscreen

JUKI’s Electric Feed Length Control System, or EFLeCS, uses a stepping motor to control the feed mechanism. Stitch length is selected electronically from the colour LCD touchscreen instead of with a mechanical pitch dial.

  • Digitally controlled feed pitch for repeatable settings
  • Clear colour LCD touchscreen integrated into the machine head
  • Setting lock helps prevent unintended operator changes
  • Condensation stitching can reduce loose thread at seam ends
  • Alternating digital feed pitches can create stitch-length patterns
The programmable patterns are variations in straight-stitch length and feed movement. This remains a single-needle lockstitch machine; it does not produce zigzag or embroidery designs.

Automatic functions

Fewer manual operations at every seam

By automating the repetitive actions around each line of stitching, the DDL-900C helps an operator maintain a smoother rhythm and more consistent finish.

Automatic reverse stitching

Programmable backtacking secures the beginning and end of the seam without repeatedly operating a manual reverse lever.

Automatic thread trimming

The double-blade rotary trimming mechanism cuts the threads directly beneath the needle, leaving approximately 3.5 mm or less of remaining thread beneath the material.

Automatic presser-foot lift

The foot can lift automatically as part of the sewing cycle. An included knee-lifter also allows the operator to raise the foot while keeping both hands on the work.

Stepping-motor operation

JUKI uses stepping-motor drive for the thread trimmer and automatic lifter, substantially reducing operating noise compared with conventional solenoid-driven mechanisms.

Designed around the operator

Useful controls are built into the machine head

The integrated design places the motor, control box and touchscreen within the machine head, reducing external equipment and making the principal settings easy to reach.

  • Two customisable hand switches near the needle area
  • Assignable functions include reverse, needle positioning, one-stitch sewing and condensation stitching
  • LED lighting directed from both sides of the needle bar
  • Three adjustable LED brightness levels
  • USB charging port integrated into the machine
  • Touchscreen lock function for production consistency

Cleaner sewing and efficient operation

Oil Shielding System and energy-saving direct drive

Reduced risk of oil staining

JUKI’s Oil Shielding System integrates the oil reservoir into the machine bed. Frame recovery and circulation systems help prevent externally splashed oil from reaching the work.

Efficient direct-drive motor

JUKI states that the integrated direct-drive motor consumes approximately 25% less power than a conventional V-belt-driven machine while providing fast starting response and full power at low speed.

High-speed productivity

The medium-weight model can sew at up to 5,000 stitches per minute when the stitch length is below 4 mm. Maximum speed is 4,000 stitches per minute when using a stitch length of 4 mm or more.

Quiet when not sewing

Unlike a traditional continuously running clutch motor, the direct-drive servo motor does not run at full speed while the machine is idle.

Suitable applications

A premium first machine for a professional sewing room

Alterations and repairs

Suitable for straight-stitch alterations to trousers, shirts, dresses, uniforms and many everyday garments.

Dressmaking and production

A strong choice for professional garment construction using cotton, polyester, linen, suiting, shirting and similar light-to-medium or medium-weight fabrics.

Home and commercial workrooms

Combines industrial speed and durability with touchscreen control suitable for a serious home studio, fashion workroom or small manufacturing operation.

The DDL-900C is a bottom-feed plain sewer. For thick leather, heavy upholstery, canvas assemblies, webbing or materials that shift between layers, a needle-feed, walking-foot or compound-feed machine may be more suitable. Direct Sewing can help identify the correct feeding system.

Frequently asked questions

JUKI DDL-900C FAQs

What type of stitch does the JUKI DDL-900C make?

It produces a single-needle straight lockstitch using one needle thread and one bobbin thread. It is designed for professional seam construction and topstitching.

Does the DDL-900C sew zigzag or embroidery stitches?

No. It is a straight-lockstitch industrial machine. Its electronic feed system can create patterns by alternating straight-stitch lengths, but it does not move the needle sideways or produce embroidery.

What is JUKI EFLeCS?

EFLeCS is JUKI’s Electric Feed Length Control System. A stepping motor controls the feed pitch, allowing stitch length to be selected digitally from the touchscreen rather than with a conventional mechanical dial.

Does this machine include automatic thread trimming?

Yes. It includes automatic thread trimming, automatic reverse stitching and automatic presser-foot lifting to reduce repeated manual operations during production.

How fast does the JUKI DDL-900C sew?

The medium-weight model can sew at up to 5,000 stitches per minute when the stitch length is below 4 mm. The maximum is 4,000 stitches per minute at stitch lengths of 4 mm or more.

Which needles does the DDL-900C use?

This medium-weight configuration uses DB×1 industrial needles, also identified as 16×231, 287WH or 1738(A). Choose the needle size and point to match the material and thread.

Can the DDL-900C sew leather or upholstery?

It may sew some light leather and suitable medium-weight materials with the correct needle, thread and adjustment. It is not the preferred machine for thick leather, heavy upholstery, webbing or difficult multi-layer assemblies, where a walking-foot, needle-feed or compound-feed machine is normally more appropriate.

What is the advantage of the direct-drive motor?

The motor connects directly to the machine shaft, providing responsive control, strong low-speed performance, reduced transmission noise and lower energy consumption than a conventional V-belt-driven setup.

Does the machine have an automatic foot lift?

Yes. The automatic lifter can raise the presser foot as part of the programmed sewing cycle. A knee lifter is also provided for hands-free manual control.

Is the table and stand included?

Industrial machine packages can differ depending on freight, assembly and installation requirements. Confirm the exact tabletop, stand, pedal arrangement and assembled package with Direct Sewing before ordering.

What warranty applies to this machine?

The current Direct Sewing listing provides a 12-month warranty from the date the machine is received. Manufacturing faults must be inspected and authorised by Direct Sewing or an approved technician. Proof of purchase is required, and exclusions apply for misuse, incorrect installation, unauthorised repairs and normal wear.

What support does Direct Sewing provide?

Direct Sewing provides industrial machine advice, setup assistance, servicing and help selecting compatible needles, thread, presser feet and attachments from its Henderson, Auckland showroom and workshop.
