This is Madeira article 8046: Polyneon 40 Multicolour, 18 × 200m. Do not confuse it with article 8045, the solid-colour Polyneon Clear Box containing 18 × 400m spools. Every spool in 8046 changes colour along the thread.

Multicolour effects and solid colours serve different designs
This set: 8046 Multicolour
Eighteen 200m spools, each changing through several colours. Choose it for variegated outlines, quilting, decorative stitches and motifs with organic colour movement.
Different set: 8045 Solid Colour
Eighteen 400m solid-colour spools for consistent colour blocks, predictable logos and designs that call for separate colour stops. It contains twice as much thread per spool.
The 8046 box contains 18 of Madeira's 20 Polyneon Multicolour shades. Chameleon 1604 and Rainbow 1606 are part of the wider range but are not included in this box.

Stabilise for the fabric
Match the stabiliser and bobbin thread to the fabric, stitch density and finished use of the project.
Stitch a complete sample
Test the actual design on a stabilised offcut because stitch order and density change the appearance of the colour repeat.

Every spool in article 8046 is Multicolour thread. Several colours repeat along the thread length, creating a changing effect as the design stitches.
How much thread is included?
The box contains 18 spools with 200m on each spool, giving 3600m of Polyneon Multicolour thread in total.
How is article 8046 different from 8045?
Article 8046 contains 18 × 200m Multicolour spools. Article 8045 contains 18 × 400m solid-colour Polyneon spools. They are different assortments with different spool lengths.
Will the colour changes look the same in every design?
No. The visible colour repeat depends on stitch length, direction, density and sewing path. A test of the complete design is the best way to preview the finished effect.
Which needle should I use?
Madeira recommends an embroidery needle in NM 75–80, such as its Universal Embroidery needle article 9450. Adjust the needle choice when the fabric or application requires it.
Can I use it on frequently washed clothing?
Yes. Madeira recommends Polyneon for sportswear, outdoor clothing, workwear and other heavily used textiles because of its tensile strength, wash fastness and chlorine resistance.
Can the finished embroidery be washed at 95°C?
Polyneon itself is rated by Madeira for washing up to 95°C. Only use that temperature when the fabric, stabiliser, bobbin thread, trims and care label also permit it.
Are Chameleon 1604 and Rainbow 1606 included?
No. Those two shades belong to Madeira's wider 20-colour Polyneon Multicolour range, but the 8046 Clear Box contains the 18 colourways listed above.
