Changing colour
Create stripes, blends and unexpected highlights directly from the thread's repeating variegated sequence.
Turn every stitch path into a shifting ribbon of colour with 18 × 200m Snapspools of Madeira Polyneon 40 Multicolour. The glossy polyester thread combines lively variegated effects with the strength and wash resistance needed for frequently used textiles.
This is Madeira article 8046: Polyneon 40 Multicolour, 18 × 200m. Do not confuse it with article 8045, the solid-colour Polyneon Clear Box containing 18 × 400m spools. Every spool in 8046 changes colour along the thread.
Polyneon Multicolour blends several shades through each spool. As the machine stitches, the colour sequence moves through the design without manual thread changes, producing effects that respond naturally to stitch direction, length and density.
Create stripes, blends and unexpected highlights directly from the thread's repeating variegated sequence.
High tensile and abrasion resistance make Polyneon useful for embroidery on textiles that are worn and washed often.
The trilobal polyester filament gives colourful embroidery a glossy surface and strong light reflection.
Let flowing stitch lines reveal the changing colour sequence across feathers, waves, florals and textured backgrounds.
Turn simple borders, satin stitches and repeating patterns into details with built-in colour movement.
Add depth to outlines, lettering and appliqué edges without stopping to exchange multiple solid threads.
Polyneon's polyester construction is well suited to sportswear, outdoor clothing, workwear, children's garments and linens.
Use the four-digit Madeira number to identify and reorder a shade. The gradient circles are screen guides to each colourway's character; the clear-box photograph above shows the real set, while a physical Polyneon colour card gives the most reliable comparison.
Eighteen 200m spools, each changing through several colours. Choose it for variegated outlines, quilting, decorative stitches and motifs with organic colour movement.
Eighteen 400m solid-colour spools for consistent colour blocks, predictable logos and designs that call for separate colour stops. It contains twice as much thread per spool.
Colour movement shows clearly in outlines, open fills, quilting lines and designs with longer stitch paths.
Madeira recommends an embroidery needle NM 75–80, such as Madeira article 9450.
Match the stabiliser and bobbin thread to the fabric, stitch density and finished use of the project.
Test the actual design on a stabilised offcut because stitch order and density change the appearance of the colour repeat.
Madeira rates Polyneon for intensive washing up to 95°C when the rest of the finished item permits it.
The special dyeing process helps the polyester thread retain its colour intensity through demanding laundering.
Always follow the most delicate requirement among the fabric, stabiliser, bobbin thread, trims and garment care label.
