A strong first computerised sewing machine

Simple enough for beginners, capable enough to grow with you

The Janome DC2150 is designed for beginners, dressmakers, students and returning sewists who want straightforward controls with useful creative flexibility.

Its 50-stitch library covers everyday garment construction, stretch sewing, repairs, blind hems, overcasting, appliqué, quilting and decorative work.

The backlit LCD displays the selected stitch and settings, while direct buttons provide control over reverse sewing, automatic lock stitch, needle position and start or stop operation.

Beneath the outer casing is a rigid die-cast aluminium internal frame that provides a stable foundation for regular home sewing.

Consistent garment finishing

Three automatic one-step buttonholes

Three styles provide options for everyday garments, stretch fabrics and keyhole-style jacket buttonholes.

  • Automatic button measurement
  • One-step sewing sequence
  • Consistent finished sizing
  • Keyhole option

700 Maximum stitches per minute

Controlled computerised sewing for garments, patchwork and everyday projects.

Set the pace to suit the project

Electronic speed control

Move the speed slider to limit the maximum sewing speed.

A slower setting is useful for beginners, children under supervision, curves, appliqué, buttonholes and detailed sewing.

Operate the machine using the included foot controller or disconnect it and use the start and stop button.

  • Up to 700 stitches per minute
  • Electronic speed slider
  • Start and stop button
  • Foot-controller operation
  • Slow-start function
  • Controlled detailed sewing
Better control around corners and curves

Needle up and down positioning

Set the needle to stop inside the fabric whenever sewing stops.

The project can then be turned around the needle without losing the exact stitch position.

Needle-down stopping is useful for patchwork, appliqué, top stitching, curves and corners.

Secure seams neatly

Automatic lock-off stitch button

Press the lock-stitch button to secure suitable stitching at the beginning or end of a seam.

This can produce a tidier result than repeatedly reversing over visible decorative or top-stitching patterns.

Faster preparation and less eye strain

Built-in needle threader

Follow the marked upper-thread route and operate the threading lever beside the needle.

The mechanism helps pass the upper thread through the needle eye.

This is particularly helpful for beginners and projects involving frequent thread-colour changes.

Smooth and consistent fabric handling

Seven-piece Superior Feed System

Seven feed-dog pieces maintain broad contact with the underside of the fabric as it passes beneath the presser foot.

This supports consistent stitch length across garment fabrics, quilting cotton, stretch materials and layered domestic projects.

  • Seven-piece feed dogs
  • Broad fabric contact
  • Smooth garment sewing
  • Reliable patchwork feeding
  • Useful for stretch fabric
  • Consistent stitch formation

Rigid die-cast aluminium internal frame

The DC2150 is built around a rigid internal frame that supports stable needle movement and consistent sewing.

It remains a domestic machine rather than an industrial walking-foot or compound-feed model.

Manual fabric control for creative techniques

Drop feed for darning and free-motion sewing

Lower the feed dogs when you want to move the fabric manually rather than allowing the machine to feed it automatically.

This supports darning, thread drawing, stippling and free-motion quilting when the correct optional foot is fitted.

  • Manual drop-feed lever
  • Free-motion quilting
  • Stippling
  • Darning
  • Thread drawing
  • Optional free-motion feet available
A capable platform for patchwork and smaller quilts

Useful quilting features with optional expansion

The DC2150 is not a large-throat quilting machine, but it includes the essential electronic controls needed for patchwork, appliqué and manageable quilting projects.

Patchwork piecing

Add an optional 1/4-inch foot for consistent quilt seam allowances.

Free-motion quilting

Lower the feed dogs and fit a compatible darning or free-motion foot.

Straight-line quilting

Add an optional even-feed foot to help move multiple layers together.

Needle-down pivoting

Keep the needle in the fabric while turning corners and following shapes.

Decorative quilting

Use the built-in quilting, appliqué and decorative patterns.

Optional wide table

Increase flat support for patchwork, curtains and larger project panels.

Flatbed support or tubular sewing access

Convertible free-arm sewing surface

Remove the accessory compartment to expose the free arm.

Sleeves, cuffs, trouser hems and other circular areas can then be positioned around the narrower machine bed.

Refit the compartment to restore the larger flat sewing surface and integrated accessory storage.

Compact size with practical project room

170 × 110mm sewing workspace

The area to the right of the needle provides useful space for garments, patchwork, bags, repairs and ordinary home projects.

An optional Janome extra-wide table can be added when additional flat support is required.

One-hand manual thread cutter

The DC2150 has a convenient manual thread cutter positioned on the machine face plate.

It does not have an electronic automatic upper and bobbin thread-cutting button.
