SEW EASY · LOW-LOFT POLYESTER
A low-loft layer for quilts, not a bulky filling.
Choose Sew Easy polyester batting when your project calls for a synthetic quilt filling with a low-loft profile. This 200gsm batting includes supporting scrim and comes in cot or queen precuts, ready to layer with your fabric.

Choose cot 127 × 152cm or queen 213 × 254cm
A synthetic alternative to cotton, bamboo and wool-filled batting.
A flatter option rather than a high-loft or loose stuffing material.
Helps the batting hold together while you lay out the layers.

What would you like to make?
Use it for quilts, wall hangings and other sewn projects that specify low-loft polyester batting. It provides a sheet of filling to quilt through rather than loose stuffing for cushions or toys. If you are matching an existing quilt, test a sample—the fabrics and stitch density influence the finish too.
Choose by measurements, not just the size name
Your batting needs to extend beyond every edge of the quilt top for basting, quilting and trimming. Add your required allowance to both the width and length before choosing a pack. If using a longarm quilting service, follow your quilter’s requested margin.
For example: a 100 × 120cm quilt top with a 5cm allowance on each side needs at least 110 × 130cm of batting. Your own quilting method may need a larger margin.
Preparing and caring for your batting
Unpack and let folds relax before cutting. Use the preparation, maximum quilting-distance and care instructions supplied with your specific pack. Baste the layers smoothly without stretching, and test your intended washing method on a small quilted sample.
Helpful answers
Is it fusible?
No. Baste the layers using a suitable method, then quilt them together.
Can I use a hot iron on it?
Follow the pack’s pressing guidance and test a sample. Polyester is heat-sensitive, so do not assume the iron setting used for your cotton top is suitable for the whole sandwich.
