Position cuffs, collars, pockets and other small pieces on the exposed adhesive. Check that the item lies flat and all loose fabric is clear of the stitching area.
Madeira Cotton Fix · Self-adhesive tear-away backing
Hoop the backing, then position your fabric.
Cotton Fix holds fabric on an adhesive surface so the fabric itself need not be clamped in the hoop. It is useful for small embroidery placements and materials that are easily marked by hoop pressure.
This listing supplies one white 30cm x 3m roll with protective release paper over the adhesive surface.

Where it works best
Fabrics prone to hoop marks
Try it for suitable velvet, suede, silk or leather when clamping the material would leave an impression. Test adhesion and removal on an inconspicuous area first.
Quilting outlines
For simple outline templates, draw and cut the shape on the nonwoven side, peel away the paper and position it on the fabric. Sew around the outside, then remove it.

How to use it
- Hoop Cotton Fix with the release paper facing upwards. Carefully score the paper only, not the backing, and peel away an area slightly larger than the design.
- Place the fabric on the exposed adhesive and press it firmly into position. Check alignment and stitch a sample before working on your finished item.
- After embroidery, carefully lift and release the fabric from the backing. Gently remove the excess around the design without pulling the stitches.
This is tear-away backing, not wash-away stabiliser or permanent fusible web. Stretchy fabrics and dense designs may require additional support suited to the finished garment.
Good to know
Is Cotton Fix an iron-on product?
No. Peel away the protective paper to expose the adhesive. Cotton Stable is the separate heat-activated tear-away option.
Can I stitch through the release paper?
Remove it from the embroidery area first. The paper protects the adhesive during storage and is not intended to sit beneath the design while stitching.
