It is an extra-heavy 1.8mm high tenacity waxed polyester braid. It is best understood as professional hand-sewing and lacing cord rather than ordinary garment thread.
The 1.8mm braid is the larger option and creates an even more pronounced stitch or laced edge than 1.6mm. Choose it when maximum visual impact is wanted and the project has holes and tools sized to suit.
