Neat seams, smooth stretch fabrics and polished rolled hems

The Husqvarna Viking Huskylock S15 is designed for sewists who want more than a basic edge finish. It cuts away excess fabric while simultaneously stitching and overcasting the edge, helping you produce strong seams with a clean, ready-to-wear appearance.

Its 2, 3 and 4-thread configurations allow you to adapt the finish to the fabric and project. Create secure four-thread construction seams, lighter two-thread finishes, narrow edges, flatlock effects and decorative rolled hems.

This makes the S15 particularly useful for dressmaking, knitwear, activewear, children’s clothing, alterations and creative home sewing.

Huskylock S15 features

Practical controls that help you achieve a better finish

The S15 combines the essential adjustments needed for garment sewing with helpful design features that make everyday overlocking more efficient.

01 / FABRIC CONTROL

Adjustable Differential Feed

Reduce waving on knit fabrics and puckering on lightweight material, or increase the setting to produce controlled gathering.

02 / THREADING

Colour-Coded Thread Paths

Clearly marked threading routes inside the front cover help guide each looper and needle thread into the correct position.

03 / ADJUSTABILITY

Adjustable Stitch Length and Cutting Width

Fine-tune seam density and the amount of fabric being trimmed to suit lightweight, medium and heavier materials.

04 / PRESSURE

Adjustable Presser-Foot Pressure

Change the pressure applied to the fabric for improved feeding across different fabric weights and multiple layers.

05 / SMALL AREAS

Slim Free Arm

Remove the flatbed section to overlock cuffs, sleeves, trouser legs and smaller children’s garments more conveniently.

06 / HEAVIER PROJECTS

Extra Presser-Foot Height

Additional clearance beneath the presser foot makes it easier to position bulky seams and several fabric layers.

07 / SPECIAL TECHNIQUES

Movable Upper Cutter

Disengage the upper cutter when you want to stitch without trimming the fabric edge.

08 / CONVENIENCE

Waste Tray, Thread Cutter and Safety Switch

Collect fabric trimmings, cut thread chains conveniently and prevent operation while the front cover is open.

More control when sewing knit and stretch fabrics

Stretch fabric can become wavy when the layers are fed unevenly. The S15’s differential feed system adjusts the relationship between the front and rear feed dogs to help the seam remain smooth and flat.

The same control can help stop lightweight woven fabrics from puckering and can also be deliberately increased to gather fabric.

  • Reduce stretched or rippled edges on jersey and knit fabric
  • Minimise puckering on fine and lightweight materials
  • Create gathering effects using the differential feed
  • Adjust presser-foot pressure to suit the fabric thickness
  • Test and fine-tune settings for each new fabric and thread combination
15 built-in stitch options

Frequently asked questions

Husqvarna Viking Huskylock S15 FAQ

Is the Huskylock S15 suitable for someone new to overlocking?
Yes. The colour-coded threading routes, lay-in tension system and clearly marked controls make the S15 approachable for a first overlocker. As with any manually threaded overlocker, allow time to learn the correct threading order and practise each stitch on fabric scraps before beginning a garment.
What fabrics can the Huskylock S15 sew?
The S15 can overlock lightweight, medium and heavier fabrics, including woven cotton, satin, jersey, double knit, fleece and denim. Differential feed and adjustable presser-foot pressure help you adapt the machine to fabrics that stretch, pucker or vary in thickness.
What is the difference between 2, 3 and 4-thread overlocking?
Four-thread overlocking is commonly used for strong garment construction, particularly on stretch fabrics. Three-thread stitches are useful for edge finishing, decorative seams and rolled hems. Two-thread stitches create lighter, less bulky finishes on fine fabrics and use the supplied two-thread converter.
Can the Huskylock S15 sew rolled hems?
Yes. It can create both two-thread and three-thread rolled-edge finishes. Rolled hems are especially useful for scarves, lightweight garments, frills, napkins and decorative fabric edges.
Does the Huskylock S15 have differential feed?
Yes. Its differential feed ratio can be adjusted from 0.7 to 2.0. Lower settings can help control gathering or puckering, while higher settings can reduce stretched edges on knit fabric or create deliberate gathering.
Does the S15 replace a coverstitch machine?
No. The S15 is an overlocker and does not produce a true coverstitch hem. It can construct seams, trim edges, make rolled hems and produce flatlock effects. A dedicated coverstitch machine is used for the parallel topstitching commonly seen on commercial T-shirt hems.
Which needles does the Huskylock S15 use?
The manufacturer specifies ELx705 overlocker needles in sizes 12/80 and 14/90. Choose the needle size according to the fabric weight and replace damaged or blunt needles promptly.
Can the cutter be disengaged?
Yes. The movable upper cutter can be disengaged for techniques where you want the machine to stitch without trimming the fabric.
Can Direct Sewing service and support the Huskylock S15?
Yes. Direct Sewing operates a showroom, service centre and technical workshop in Henderson, Auckland. The team can assist with machine advice, accessories, needles, overlocker thread, servicing and repair enquiries.
Can I view or discuss the S15 before ordering?
Contact Direct Sewing to confirm current availability or whether a demonstration machine can be viewed. The showroom is located at 138 Railside Avenue, Henderson, Auckland, and the team can also assist customers throughout New Zealand by phone or online.
