Protect the boiler, pump and steam path
Distilled water helps minimise residue from minerals and treatment chemicals found in tap water.
- Use distilled water for the connected supply.
- Keep water available to the pump during operation; do not allow the feed to run dry.
- Never add fragrance, starch, special ironing water or chemical treatments.
- Drain and flush the boiler once a week.
- Drain only when the generator is cold, unplugged and the pressure gauge reads 0 bar.
- Wait at least one hour after switching off before draining.
Plan the installation well
Maia is rated at 230V / 50Hz and contains a 2kW boiler, two 800W irons and a 48W pump. Confirm the supplied plug and suitable site connection with Direct Sewing before installation.
- Connect directly to a correctly earthed supply suitable for the complete unit.
- Avoid multi-boxes and unsuitable extension leads.
- Route both steam hoses so operators can move freely without pulling or snagging.
- Return each hot iron to a heat-resistant rest whenever it is not in hand.
- Do not move the generator while it is hot, operating or pressurised.
